Considering a tummy tuck?  Read on

Everyone loves a firm, toned stomach.  Even with diet and exercise, it can be hard to have tight abs and a firm stomach.  Difficulty achieving the look you want can be due to pregnancy, weight changes or genetics.  One way to get the abs you want is through a tummy tuck.  Dr. Haque and the Queen City Plastic Surgery Team will be happy to work with you to create a custom plan to help you achieve a tighter and flatter tummy through targeting excess fat and skin.

What to Expect with a Tummy Tuck

During your consultation, Dr. Haque will answer your questions and discuss the best approach to achieving your goals. Depending on your desired results, a tummy tuck can be combined with other procedures, such as a breast lift, breast augmentation, and liposuction.  This combination is often called a mommy makeover to help achieve that pre-pregnancy figure.

The tummy tuck is an outpatient procedure which generally takes between two to four hours.  If you’re combining the tummy tuck with other procedures then it will take longer.  Dr. Haque will be very mindful when making the horizontal incision in your lower abdomen so that most low-rise jeans and bikinis will cover it and all that will be visible are your tight, toned abs. From there, Dr. Haque will work to repair your stretched muscles caused by pregnancy, weight loss or even genetics by tightening the abdominal muscles along your entire abdomen. Prior to resetting your belly button using small sutures, Dr. Haque will also trim away any excess skin, leaving you a beautiful and balanced tummy.

Recovery from a Tummy Tuck

Due to minor swelling and one small drain tube for fluid, Dr. Haque recommends about two weeks for recovery. You’ll want someone to help you after surgery. Since all sutures used are absorbable you may return to light aerobic activity in 2-4 weeks post surgery. Dr. Haque will take care of you during your follow up and monitor your progress.  And then you can enjoy your beautiful new abs!
