Breast Lift (Mastopexy)

Many women in Charlotte may be uncomfortable with the appearance of their breasts, especially as aging, weight fluctuations and pregnancy can change their firmness, lift and profile. Sagging or drooping breasts are not inevitable, however; they can be reshaped by a plastic surgeon in order to restore a more natural and youthful appearance.

A breast lift or mastopexy is a surgical procedure that can reshape the contour of the breast, tighten the skin in the area and raise the position of the nipple. During a breast lift at Queen City Plastic Surgery, your plastic surgeon will remove excess skin and reset breast tissue to present a raised appearance. Some women may also choose to combine a breast lift with a breast augmentation for fuller, perkier breasts.

Why Choose a Breast Lift?

There are a number of reasons why the appearance of the breasts can change over time, although the most common reasons for a loss of elasticity and fullness include:

  • Pregnancy
  • Weight changes, especially major weight loss
  • Breastfeeding
  • Aging
  • Genetics
  • Gravity

While many of these factors may be unavoidable or highly beneficial to a woman’s life, the breast changes that accompany them are often an unwanted result. At Queen City Plastic Surgery, board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Enam Haque can help Charlotte women to restore and rejuvenate their appearance.

Who Is a Good Candidate for a Breast Lift?

A mastopexy is well-suited for adult women in Charlotte who want to change the appearance of their breasts. Because weight gain or loss can change the appearance of your breasts, a breast lift is best suited for people who are satisfied with their current weight and are not planning for major changes. This can help to ensure that the results of the procedure are long-lasting. In addition, smokers should stop smoking at least one month before the procedure.

What Can You Expect at a Breast Lift Consultation?

When you visit Queen City Plastic Surgery for a breast lift consultation, Dr. Haque will review your medical history in detail. He will learn more about your desires for your appearance and develop a personalized surgical plan that fits your needs and goals. In addition, Dr. Haque will answer your questions about how the procedure will work, present before-and-after photos and discuss the options for a breast lift.

Dr. Haque is highly experienced with the most innovative and advanced approaches to breast lift surgery. Rather than simply removing excess skin, Dr. Haque’s procedure reshapes and elevates the breast tissue to produce long-lasting, beautiful and well-supported results. You can also discuss whether you are considering an augmentation in addition to mastopexy.

5/5

“I recently had a procedure and Dr. Haque was wonderful, he explained exactly what I needed to know and was open for any and all questions. His staff could not be nicer. Very pleased with the entire experience.”

What Is the Breast Lift Procedure?

Board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Haque will conduct the procedure at Queen City Plastic Surgery. In most cases, mastopexy takes from one to two hours and is performed under general anesthesia. Your Charlotte plastic surgeon will make an incision around the areola and potentially vertically below to the crease of the breast, depending on your unique surgical plan.

Your doctor will lift and reshape the underlying breast tissue to improve the firmness and contour of your breasts. In addition, the blood vessels and nerves to the nipple are preserved in a mastopexy. The nipple will be reset for a more forward-facing appearance. In some cases, your breast tissue may also be used to create a fuller upper appearance of the breast, while excess skin is removed. Some women may also receive breast implants during the breast lift procedure if they also want to augment the size of their breasts.

How is Recovery After a Breast Lift?

In most cases, dissolvable sutures are used that will leave your body. Dr. Haque will provide detailed instructions to help support your recovery. After a breast lift, your results will be visible immediately. You will wear a sports bra without underwire for the first month after your procedure in order to protect your results, and your surgical team will provide more thorough information on how to minimize the appearance of scarring.
