COSMOpen – Microneedling in Charlotte

What is microneedling?

COSMOpen is a non-invasive treatment procedure, suitable for all skin types, to treat multiple skin concerns such as: pigmentation disorders, alopecia, facial rejuvenation, stretch marks as well as skin scarring caused from acne or surgical procedures.  It’s also called microneedling and many of our patients get this once a quarter (every three months or so).

Why would I want microneedling?

One of the reasons COSMOpen has proven so effective is that it not only reduces wrinkles and signs of aging but works to trigger the glow induced from collagen production. One’s skin will also heal quicker, more optimally and will last for a longer duration due to the induced collagen production.

What does microneedling do and what are the benefits of microneedling?

During the microneedling process, the COSMOpen will repeatedly puncture the skin with small, sterile needles, creating thousands of tiny channels in your skin that work to induce collagen production. It sounds painful but you will have ice beforehand so it doesn’t feel so bad!

By taking advantage of the COSMOpen for microneedling one will enable their skin to absorb about 80% of the skin care products used during treatment due to the thousand of micro channels created. This is compared to your skin only absorbing 3% of products that are topically applied. That means your skincare will have an extra boost!

What’s the recovery from microneedling like?

People love microneedling because of the great results with minimal downtime. In addition, it’s less painful and you have less redness than things such as laser.  It’s one of our favorite all-over treatments!

How often do I need microneedling?

Most patients experience skin improvement after the first or second treatment, however, at least 4 sessions is recommended for optimal results.  We suggest starting with 3 treatments scheduled every other month and then having microneedling 3 times a year.  Patients may experience redness for 12 to 48 hours after the procedure, however, can look forward to their skin improving for the next 6 to 12 months due to collagen remodeling taking place over time.
