Five Ways to Spring Clean Your Skincare Routine

When the temperatures rise, you put away your heavy winter apparel and bring out your lighter spring clothes.  The same should apply to your skincare!  Many people find that they need to focus on layering lighter products in the warmer weather and to replenish their sun protection.

Here are five ways you can transition your skincare regime as the weather heats up:

1) Check expiration dates
Makeup and skincare products have an expiration date and if you can’t remember when you purchased it or if the product does not have an expiration date you can look at the little symbol on the bottle that shows how long it remains effective once opened.

2) Be diligent about your daily application of sunscreen
Wearing SPF protects your face and body from damaging UV rays.  Not only does this protect against premature aging, but also against skin cancer, so SPF protection is important for the whole family. Even on cloudy days, UV rays can reach the skin and cause damage so it’s a good idea to use an SPF product daily. QCPS offers several options including our newest sunscreen, Clear Choice Sport Shield SPF 45. It’s a micronized zinc SPF in an aloe base so it has a light feel to it and it keeps your skin moisturized. Epionce also makes a nice sunscreen that has good protection in a light texture.

3) Exchange your moisturizer for something lighter
Your winter moisturizer is probably too rich for summer, so it’s a good idea to switch to one that’s lighter and a non-greasy formula. If you’re using Epionce Renewal Facial Cream, you could switch to the Epionce Renewal Facial Lotion, which provides many of the same benefits, but is not quite as rich.  You could also try Dermastart ISO Moisture, which includes botanicals to fight free radicals and nourish the skin.

 4) Exfoliate for a healthy glow
While regular skin cleansing is clearly beneficial, exfoliating your face on a regular basis can improve the results of your skin care routine and help rejuvenate your skin and get it ready for spring weather!  The Dermastart Mini Facial is wonderful for this.  You could also use an Epionce Lytic Tx product in your everyday routine to keep up the results.  If you need something stronger, the CosmoPen microneedling pen is the way to go.

5) Let Your Skin Breathe
Spring is a great time to let your skin go au naturale and lighten up on the makeup. Warmer days mean sweating, which can leave a mess on your face if you wear makeup and can lead to clogged pores and acne. If you can’t stand to go bare-faced, we recommend the Prana Reflet BB cream as it’s light and provides just enough coverage to even out skin tone and give you that perfect “no makeup” look.
